The next level of Inkjet
A steadily growing fragmentation of print jobs, a shift of print processes toward the end of the value chain and the focus on make-on-demand solutions are continuously reducing the average run length. Aspirations to further minimize the costs of prepress and the desire to print on three-dimensional objects further increase the pressure on conventional technologies. Industrial inkjet printing can offer a solution for some of these challenges with pigment-based ink systems for drop-on-demand inkjet as the most promising technology currently available on the market – an area on which Siegwerk is particularly focused.
Our portfolio of UV and water-based inks for industrial inkjet is ideally suited for a wide range of substrates and applications including:
- Coding & marking
- Blister and aluminum caps
- Direct printing on 3D objects
- Flexible packaging
- Corrugated board and boxes
- Paper-based substrates such as direct mail, tissues and napkins
Moreover, different primers and overprint lacquers complement our offering for digital printing further extending the application spectrum.
Whether WB or UV inkjet is the best technology depends on the application. WB Inkjet is particularly suitable for thin or porous substrates and is predestined for applications with high demands on product safety and conformity, like e.g. flexible packaging or corrugated board. UV Inkjet is in turn the perfect solution for thicker substrates with high requirements on brilliance, scratch and abrasion resistance, like e.g. for labels or direct-to-object printing. Both technologies enable a customization of ink and film properties to meet the end application - obviously without compromising on product quality and safety.
For Siegwerk, product safety and conformity are and remain the most important aspects of ink development. To ensure the highest level of quality, used ingredients not only follow diligent raw material introduction processes, but also are measured and evaluated by our experts. Especially in the pharmaceutical and food industry, it is extremely important to prevent contamination of packaged goods by components of the packaging material. For sensitive applications, Siegwerk offers special low migration inkjet inks - a valuable extension of our portfolio, particularly in the field of UV inkjet.
Over the years, Siegwerk has built up its own innovation center for digital printing solutions in Annemasse (France), where it is not only hosting various research, development and testing capacities, but also the most modern production facility for UV and WB inkjet inks.
